SIOR NE Chapter holds annual golf outing and R.W. Holmes Scholarship reception

Stratham, NH The SIOR New England Chapter held its annual golf invitational outing and R.W. Holmes Scholarship Reception on October 18th, at the Golf Club of New England. It was a sponsored and joint event with Vantage Builders. Approximately 32 SIORs and guests attended the golf outing and the reception. Jeremy Freid, chapter president welcomed everyone prior to the bestball kick out. Vantage Builders was the Gold Sponsor for this event. Other sponsors for SIOR this year include ARCO, Dacon, CPM, Eastern Bank, Foxfield, 128CRE, Burns Levinson, Colliers International, Dyer Brown, Marcus Partners, RJ Kelly, Rockland Trust, McLane Middleton, MG Commercial Partridge Snow & Hahn, Sage Environmental and Wilchins Cosentino & Novins.

It was a shot gun format that started at 11 a.m. with boxed lunch and the opportunity to warm up at the driving range. The weather was cool but became sunny as the day progressed. The Golf Club was newly formed in the early 2000s and developed on former farmland. The course was gorgeous with the fall color background. It was a long course as well with many wetland hazards and challenging greens. The groups were in foursomes with the chance to win prizes. The groups finished up at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The evening reception included drinks and hors d’oeuvres. At the R.W. Holmes reception Freid thanked everyone for attending and thanked John Connor, president of Vantage for sponsoring the event. Connor said a few words about his company and how they have expanded locations. His company has engaged in a great deal of business because of the SIOR connection and he thanked the SIOR chapter.

Then Freid named the SIOR golf winners. The first-place net with a score of 59 went to David Gilkie, Chuck Reilly, Chris Reilly and Dan Driscoll. The first-place gross with a score of 73 went to Austin Smith, Parker Snyder, Chris Norwood, and Greg Klemmer. Each team member was awarded a gift card for the pro shop. Congratulations to the winners. Freid then introduced Elizabeth Holmes, granddaughter of Bob Holmes in which the R.W. Holmes Scholarship is named after. She is also working towards her SIOR designation and recently attended the Fall SIOR Chicago Conference with her father, Garry Holmes. This is the 16th R.W. Holmes Scholarship that goes to a junior broker associate. The award is a monetary gift that can only be applied to an SIOR education course or an SIOR conference. This year the scholarship was awarded to Chris Reilly of Avison Young, Boston.

Reilly advises both owners and occupiers on their real estate strategies primarily in Boston’s Northern and Northwestern submarkets. Reilly’s specialty is industrial and office properties. Since the start of his career, he has successfully negotiated over 80 leases. Prior to joining Avison Young in 2021, Reilly gained experience handling the leasing for an 11 million s/f portfolio north of Boston, comprised of office, warehouse, R&D and lab space. Reilly earned his bachelor of science degree in Business Management from Endicott College in 2019. Reilly was a four-year member of the Men’s Lacrosse team at Endicott and has been involved with Team IMPACT, HEADstrong Foundation, and Cummings Foundation. In his free time, he coaches for Milton Youth Lacrosse and Laxchusetts club programs.

Reilly is also affiliated with CBA and NAIOP. Congratulations to Reilly who was awarded $2,750 and matched by the SIOR Foundation. Reilly has long-term goals to continue to grow and build his career in commercial real estate. He stated that he was quite surprised to be elected the recipient as he knew there were many applicants. Freid mentioned that Reilly has attended many chapterevents and has focused on industrial real estate. Reilly is planning to attend upcoming SIOR designation courses. The event then ended at 6 p.m.
